The Reverend Dr. James (Jim) P. Ozier
Dr. Jim Ozier is the Director of New Church Development and Congregational Transformation for the North Texas Conference. He began his work for the NTC in November 2007, focusing on the area of new church development. Congregational transformation was added to his responsibilities in 2009.
Rev. Ozier is responsible for starting new churches in the fast-growing Metroplex area and throughout North Texas. Prior to his current assignment, for nearly 18 years he was senior pastor of the 4000-member Trietsch Memorial UMC in Flower Mound. Although United Methodism has been in decline, Trietsch more than tripled in size, attendance, and stewardship under Jim’s leadership. In addition to planting a church in Corinth, Texas, more than 1500 worshipers attend one of Trietsch’s weekend worship services in a 1400-seat sanctuary featuring state-of-the-art technology, powerful interviews, and a choice of worship styles ranging from traditional to contemporary.
Jim began his ministry working for noted missionary E. Stanley Jones, and he served his first church while just a high-school student in Illinois. He received his Master’s and Doctoral degrees from Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, where he received the coveted “Mustang Award” award for leadership.
Jim has also served in the inner-city of Dallas, helping to build one of the most respected and successful inner-city mission ministries in the country, serving Laotian, Cambodian, and Vietnamese refugees.
Jim Ozier is an established motivational speaker and presenter for religious groups, civic organizations, and corporations. Based on techniques and ideas learned from his experiences with Southwest Airlines, he has conducted numerous seminars on culture and hospitality for hundreds of pastors, churches, districts, and annual conferences.
Jim’s wife, Suzanne, is a retired special education teacher. Together they have four grown children. Jim is an outdoors-man who enjoys fishing, hunting, and wildlife management.
